2021’s Edition – Women’s House in Africa

KAIRA LOORO COMPETITION ; Kaira Looro , Architecture for peace has announced the opening of a new contest for a Women’s House in Senegal, Africa. The competition is opened to students, architects and designers from around the world.
Competition Awards:

1st prize: 5.000€ + Internship at Kengo Kuma and Associates -in Tokyo, Japan+Construction.

 

2nd prize: 1.000€ + Internship at Miralles Tagliabue EMBT in Madrid, Spain.

3rd prize: 500€ + Internship at SBGA – Blengini Ghirardelli in Milan, Italy.

Awards will be given also to 2 honorable mentions, 5 special mentions, 20 finalists, and 20 Top 50.

The international jury is made up of:

Kengo Kuma (Kengo Kuma and Associates -), Benedetta Tagliabue (Miralles Tagliabue EMBT), Urko Sanchez ( Urko Sánchez Architects), Agostino Ghirardelli (SBGA – Blengini Ghirardelli ), Oulimata Sarr (Regional Director of UN Women Africa – ONU Femmes Afrique ), Lehau Victoria Maloka ( Director of Women Gender and Development Directorate/ WGDD of African Union ), Ndeye Saly Diop DIENG ( Minister of Ministère de la Femme de la Famille du Genre de la Protection des Enfants of Senegal), Azzurra Muzzonigro (Sex & the City Milano ).

The registration will open on 16th January. It’s possible join the competition as an individual participant or team.
The architecture of the Women’s House should symbolic, environmentally friendly, inspired by local traditions, and capable of accommodating training events and laboratories that raise awareness in the rural community regarding human rights and gender equality.

The event proceeds will be donated to support charity projects of Balouo Salo – Un ponte per la vita and to the construction of the winning project in a village in southern Senegal.
