NAME: BANGLADESH-CHINA FRIENDSHIP CONVENTION CENTRE.

SITE AREA: 9.88 ACRES.
Project Cost: 30 million USD
Time Period: March, 2000 – August, 2001

CLIENT: Public Works Department, Bangladesh.
INTRODUCTION:
In short, Bangladesh-China Friendship Convention Center give a new paradigm to our architecture specially in technological sector . New technologies like use of aluminum composite panel, plastic wood, fire protection unit etc are used in specious way.
In the year 2002, the 13th International NAM conference will be held in Dhaka, this is a matter of pride for our country. However , nowhere ,including Dhaka, in Bangladesh have a conference center which can house an international conference on such a large scale. Bangladesh government, thus realizing this shortcoming, has taken the initiative to construct an International convention center in Dhaka. The funds for which have been forwarded by the people’s Republic of China in the form of a non-interest able loan.
The top level government officials had initially chosen the osmani uddyan as the site for the construction. Later on, the site was changed and the present construction is in progress at the northern of chandrima uddyan, on the rokeya sarani, in sher-e-bangla nagar, Dhaka
OBJECTIVES:
The objectives of the project can be enumerated as follows :—
1). The center will serve as the venue for the NAM conference to be held in Dhaka in the year 2001.
2). It will also house various other national and international conferences to be held in the future.
3). Symposia, seminars and exhibitions on the national level will also be lodged here.
