Oath Of New EC for Institute of Architects Bangladesh Held
On 6th December 2024 election for 26th Executive Council of IAB was held. The inauguration ceremony of the newly elected 26th Executive Council of the Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) and the farewell reception for the 25th Executive Council took place Saturday 8th February 2025. The event was held at the institute’s office in Agargaon, Dhaka.
The program began around 6 PM. It was attended by members of the newly elected 26th Executive Council, the outgoing 25th Executive Council former presidents, vice presidents, general secretaries, executive council members from different terms, election commissioners of IAB Election 2024, and associate, full and fellow architect members of the institute. The information was later shared through a press release.

According to the press release, Honorable Adviser to the Ministry of Housing and Public Works of the interim government, Adilur Rahman Khan, was present as the chief speaker and administered the oath to the members of the 26th Executive Council. The event began with a welcome speech by the organizing committee’s convener, Architect Khan Md. Mahfuzul Haque Jaglul. Following this, the outgoing president of the 25th Executive Council, Architect Professor Khandaker Sabbir Ahmed, delivered his speech.
After his speech, the outgoing members of the 25th Executive Council were presented with commemorative plaques as part of their farewell reception. Election commissioners of IAB Election 2024 were also honored with commemorative plaques. The newly elected president of the 26th Executive Council, Architect Professor Abu Sayeed M. Ahmed, delivered a congratulatory speech.
This was followed by special speeches from Chief Architect of the Department of Architecture under the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, Mir Manzurur Rahman; President of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB), Engineer Mohammad Riazul Islam (Rizu); and Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (RAJUK), Major General (Retd.) Md. Siddiqur Rahman Sarker. Following this, the members of the newly elected 26th Executive Council took their oath. At this stage, Adilur Rahman Khan gave a speech, urging architects to play a strong role in the development of the construction industry and to make the housing sector more accessible to the middle class.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from General Secretary of Institute of Architects Bangladesh, Architect Masud Ur Rashid.
